T.I's album is coming out on Sept 30...it leaked the other day, and its actually really good. Can't wait to buy it once it comes out. So as you alll know, the VMAs were on tonight...and just like the past few years, this show was overly hyped-up, what a shocker! Ok so my take on the show: Britney's opening of the show...really, did everyone get all excited for that?!?! Britney winning the three awards she was nominated for, I feel like it was a pity win that MTV just gave her...that song/video was in no way the best song by a female artist this year, nor was it the Video of the Year.

The performances were, just like last year..and the year before, a disappointment. The one's I liked had to be from Pink, Jonas Brothers, and Kanye West. Kanye's was by far my favorite, he sang a new song of his called "Love Locked Down"...its really good!!! Leonna Lewis' part in Lil Wayne's performance was good too. Anyone see Christina perform...why was she lip-syncing?!??! Whyyyyy??? I love her, and she disappointed me so much by having such a crappy performance. :(

Russell Brand and his comments about the Jonas Brothers' promise rings...and then Jordan Sparks' retaliation...was HILARIOUS!

Ok..I'm just bummed that the show was overly hyped up, and still a disappointment. The days were Nsync and Britney would perform and when Chris Rock was the host needs to come back..those were by far the best VMAs.

Mr. West is Jockin Jay-Z...

Initially Kanye West was a producer, not a rapper. (Imagine what we would be listening to if he decided to just be a producer and not make his own songs...we wouldn't have all the songs by Mr. West that we all love) Well if you guys aren't aware of it... Jay-Z is coming out with the Blueprint 3 album...and he initially wanted Timbaland to produce the album. He went in with Timbaland...heard the beats and basically said they sucked, and has been working with Kanye instead. I'm actually pretty sure Jay-Z said the beats sounded amateur and not up to his standard for this upcoming album, and ya that's dissing Timbaland...but if anyone in the music industry has the ability to talk down to anyone else...it's Jay-Z.

"Jockin' Jay-Z" is a song off the upcoming album, produced by Mr. West...and it definitely has the whole Run DMC feel...back to old school hip-hop. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it....but I'm really liking it now. Take a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQz_xqxjMd4

Can we discuss the amazing editorial in the September issue of W which is styled by Camilla Nickerson...and featuring Tilda Swinton (amazing woman)....

It's phenomenal...and soooo witty. These are the things we live for....
Go and buy it folks!

There is also a wonderful editorial with Kate Moss....it's beautiful and styled by Alex White (who always does a great job). Let us not forget to pay tribute to the photographers!!

However, I do want to voice a woe. Why is it that you must be one of the super power house fashion brands to get any sort of love in W? Or any large publication, for that matter?! I see so many different brands that are truly worthy of some space on a page...and they don't get it. Then you see things like Prada...Cartier...Jimmy Choo...blowing it up. I get it..I get it..advertising helps. It just makes me a little sad that everything is about money.

Are you an obscenely talented artist but have no money? Fill in an application at your local Coffee Bean kid...people don't give designers a chance anymore. It is so sad.

The Rachel Zoe Project

In case you have not yet heard, The Rachel Zoe Project will be premiering on BRAVO on September 8th. It's is slated to be a 30 minute show every Monday at 10pm. I can tell you that us FashionPhaser's are DEFINITELY (without a shadow of a doubt) watching. Not exactly because of Rachel Zoe...but because her ever entertaining and wonderfully hate-able (yet, oddly love-able) assistant, Taylor Jacobson. The style maven may be an assistant...but, on the real...she runs the show. We don't just mean the BRAVO show...we mean, the Rachel Zoe camp. We think Taylor needs her own show...

The way she effortlessly comes up with witty commentary...I mean, get outta town. The way she talks back to RZ...bananas. The way she makes lil' Bradley cry....off the chain.

Taylor is the reason we will be watching the show...and we think you should too. FashionPhase.net will be updating you all and adding our own commentary after each episode. We hope you chime in because we think it's going to be a real hoot, kids. A real hoooot.
